Common Misunderstandings
It is a common misunderstanding to think that maintaining a healthy lifestyle must be time consuming and difficult. After all, it’s certainly easier and faster to run to a fast food store on the way to work, or to purchase potato chips from the vending machine rather than bringing a healthy yogurt from home to have as a snack at work. Exercise takes time, drinking the right amount of water each day takes time- everything takes time and some aforethought, so it just doesn’t happen.
Believing that taking care of yourself is too hard and time consuming is really just an attitude problem and not a problem in reality. How much longer does it really take to bring a yogurt to work with you? How much longer does it take to take the stairs instead of the elevator? In some cases it probably takes less time to take the stairs.
Living a healthy lifestyle is just a matter of attitude and habit. If you tell yourself that potato chips are bad for you and decide never to eat them, then it isn’t that hard to find a simple, healthy alternative. And this goes for just about everything you do. Just like any other life-style change, the slower the changes are made and the more gradual the new habits are developed, the greater the chance for success.
